Essington Fruit Farm near Wolverhampton is a family business run by the Simkins who have farmed in Essington for over 110 years.
They have always sold their produce directly from the farm and their fruit and vegetables are often less than an hour old.
Their 50-acre Pick Your Own site grows around 30 different crops throughout the season. Crops include berries, soft fruits, beans, peas, root vegetables, sweetcorn, spinach, pumpkin, squash and rhubarb.
There is a wide selection of strawberry varieties most of which are unobtainable from supermarkets with varieties are selected for flavour rather than shelf life giving a better tasting, fresher strawberry.
They opened a restaurant in 1990 enabling offering their own produce cooked in their country kitchen restaurant. The kitchen also bakes daily for the shop providing traditional home baking as fresh as possible.
In 2007 they opened a butchery and delicatessen – an outlet for their free range pork – and also beef and lamb from neighbouring farmers.
We wish them well.
