For three years, the Midlands Family Business Awards, a charitable initiative organised by Nottinghamshire family business, insurance brokers The Wilson Organisation has showcased the achievements of family businesses and their leaders.
Though sixteen family businesses from the West Midlands made the final ‘cut’ in the 2012 Midlands Family Business Awards, only two awards were made to the region’s family manufacturing businesses. One was Smethwick’s Professional Polishing Services, the UK’s market leader in mechanical surface finishing of stainless steel.
Opposite: Keith Williams – First Actuarial, and Des Hogan -Thomas Miller Investment, give an Outstanding Contribution award to PPS Works Manager, Richard Chinnock, after he was interviewed by the judging panel. PPS nominated him because of his positive contribution to the success of the company, loyalty and flexibility over his sixteen hard-working years with the Company.
Family business Alumet from Southam (Warwickshire) designs, manufactures and installs many products and systems including bomb-blast resistant walling systems, windows, doors, louvre systems and dry wall beams. It also provides renewable energy equipment.
