SMEs account for 99% of all enterprise in the UK
SMEs provide 58.8% of private sector employment
SMEs deliver 48.8% of private sector turnover
SMEs employed an estimated 13.8 million people
SMEs have an estimated combined annual turnover of £1,500 billion
SMEs who function well can each play a part in offering Britain’s workless individuals and households (chart below) the chance to make a contribution to the economy.
